Summative Peer Review of Teaching, Phase 2

Wednesday, April 17, 2024
1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

Summative peer review is a crucial element in both evaluating and supporting inclusive and effective teaching practices at Mizzou. Through this process, peers delve deeper into the feedback provided by students and examine the instructor’s utilization of evidence-based instructional strategies. In this session, participants will engage in hands-on practice with the tools and processes of the campus-supported summative peer review system. This includes exploring examples of the peer review rubric criteria across various learning modalities. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions about this important aspect of teaching evaluation. Prior completion of the Summative Peer Review Canvas Training (available at https://tlc.missouri.edu/review-of-teaching/iet-helpful-resources/) is highly recommended to maximize learning outcomes from this session.

Formative Peer Review of Teaching, Phase 2

Thursday, April 18, 2024
12:30 PM – 1:30 PM

At Mizzou, we encourage new instructors to engage in formative peer review as their initial experience with peer review, and also as an ongoing strategy for professional development. Unlike summative peer review, which is primarily evaluative, formative peer review aims to identify effective teaching strategies to retain and explore new techniques for improvement. In this session, participants will familiarize themselves with the MU Formative Peer Review Checklist and Processes and have the chance to ask questions about this essential element for promoting inclusive and effective teaching at Mizzou. Prior completion of the Formative Peer Review Canvas Training (https://tlc.missouri.edu/review-of-teaching/iet-helpful-resources/) is highly recommended to get the most out of this session.

**Lunch will be served at this session, please contact teaching@missouri.edu for any dietary concerns you would like us to be aware of.
